Tax scandal forced Facebook to get rid of “daughter” in Ireland

Facebook is closing its holding companies in Ireland. These companies, according to the US Internal Revenue Service, were used to evade $9 billion in taxes in the United States, Great Britain, and several other countries.

Writes about this The Guardian.

The decision to liquidate three of Facebook's Irish holding companies was filed by the Irish Companies Registrar. The assets of Facebook Ireland Holdings are transferred to its US parent company.

The US Internal Revenue Service (IRS) recently sued Facebook. However, the company cites another official reason for the closure of the Irish subsidiary:

“The company was liquidated as a result of a change that best suits our operating structure,” Facebook said in a statement.

We will remind, earlier the Western media also learned about the secret advertising agreement between Google and Facebook. It was reported that Facebook agreed not to compete with Google tools in exchange for special rights and privileges in their use.

In addition, the US antitrust authority wants to force Facebook to sell Instagram and WhatsApp.

Also, experts have repeatedly reported on the problems of the social network with security.
