The French Ministry of Health has confirmed the first case of infection with a new strain of coronavirus, BFM reported. The man, who was diagnosed with the virus, arrived on December 19 from the UK, where he lives.
Now the infected area in the French city of Tours in isolation. He is asymptomatic and doing well. “Health authorities have started tracing contacts with medical workers who took care of the patient and looking for his contacts at risk to isolate them,” the French Ministry of Health said.
Earlier in the UK, a mutation of the coronavirus was discovered, which is 70% more infectious. After that, two dozen countries, including Russia, suspended flights with the state. The first cases of infection were detected in Germany and Switzerland; in total, this COVID-19 mutation was recorded in eight European countries.
