The United States Department of Commerce has added 59 PRC organizations to its Export Control List.
The US government has imposed trade sanctions against more than fifty Chinese entities involved in human rights violations, theft of trade secrets in the United States, and Chinese expansion in the region. This was stated by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
“The United States is imposing new restrictions on individual actors that undermine our national security and foreign policy interests. In particular, the US Department of Commerce has added 59 organizations from the PRC to its Export Control List,” the head of the State Department said.
In particular, four subjects from China were blacklisted due to the provision of materials for DNA tests and high-tech equipment to the PRC government, which was a manifestation of a significant violation of human rights in China. Another 19 defendants were on the list of sanctions for involvement in the theft of commercial secrets of American corporations. As Pompeo emphasized, this undermined, among other things, US efforts to counter the illicit trafficking of nuclear and other radioactive materials.
Separate restrictions were introduced against 36 entities for their activities related to the expansion of the PRC in the South China Sea, including the Research Institute of Shipbuilding, production support facilities for the Chinese Navy, and communication companies.
“The harmful activities of the Chinese Communist Party at home and abroad harm the interests of the United States and undermine the sovereignty of our allies and partners. The United States will use all available countermeasures, including actions aimed at preventing Chinese companies and institutions from exploiting American goods and technologies in malicious purposes, “- said in this regard, the US Secretary of State.
