In the US, questioned the implementation of «Nord Stream-2»

Washington believes that Nord Stream 2 has no chance of implementation, despite the resumption of construction of the gas pipeline. This was reported by an independent exchange portal Ariva.de with reference to a high-ranking representative of the American government.

According to him, if the Russian pipeline could be completed, the project operator “would have done it long ago”.

“This is a pipeline that will never transport Russian gas,” the source said.

On the eve of the operator Nord Stream 2 AG. reported that in the territorial waters of Germany, the completion of the “Nord Stream-2” with the help of the pipe-laying "Fortuna" resumed. The vessel will lay 2.6 km of gas pipeline in the exclusive economic zone of Germany in waters at a depth of less than 30 m.

The barge returned to the German port of Wismar on 5 December. From there, it went to the port of Rostock earlier in the day.

The vessel is expected to lay pipes South of the shallow Adlergrund area in the Baltic sea between December 5 and December 31.

Another pipelayer, Akademik Chersky, is involved in the project. On December 8, it moved away from the proposed point of construction of the gas pipeline and turned to the northeast. The destination was Kaliningrad.

On the same day, the Federal Maritime and hydrographic Agency of Germany (BSH) announced the approval of the laying of the Nord Stream — 2 in German waters for December and is considering an application to continue work in January–April 2021.

Nord Stream 2 is being built from Russia to Germany along the bottom of the Baltic sea. Due to earlier us sanctions, pipe laying operations were suspended as the Swiss company Allseas withdrew its vessels from the Baltic. The EU countries mainly support the project and participate in its implementation. The United States, the Baltic States, Poland, and Ukraine are against it.
