In the Czech capital Prague on Saturday, December 5, a judge of the Supreme Court and four other people were detained. They are accused of bribery and abuse of office, said Prosecutor General of the Republic Lenka Bradachova.
вЂњOne of the detainees is a judge of the Supreme Court in Prague, another is a lawyer. All of them are accused of taking bribes, abuse of office, and legalization of proceeds from illegal activities,вЂќ the prosecutor general said.
Meanwhile, Czech Radio, referring to its sources, named the name of the detained Supreme Court judge вЂ” Zdenek Sovak.
It turned out that in 2003 he was temporarily suspended twice from his duties вЂ” for plagiarism and for driving while intoxicated, which led to an accident.
If the charges are proven, all detainees face imprisonment for up to 12 years.
