The human rights commission of the upper house of the Brazilian parliament will consider the possibility of the country's possession of nuclear weapons in order to “prevent foreign interference.” This was announced on Thursday by the press service of the Federal Senate.
As specified, in mid-October, a civil legislative initiative was registered in the information system of the legislative body with the following content: “The Brazilian Armed Forces need an atomic bomb to prevent foreign interference in our national territory.” “The Brazilian Amazon belongs to us!” — said in a petition for authorship of a resident of the southern state of Parana Vitu Angela Duarte Pascaretta.
By November 2, the petition was supported by 20 thousand people, after which, according to the regulations, it was sent to the profile commission, which will determine the deputy responsible for its further consideration. If approved, a corresponding bill will be prepared.
