Finally, a businessman appeared who, from a simple talk about the dangers of plastic for the environment, got down to business. French businessman Eric Brecker opened a stunning hotel off the coast of the African state of Cote D'Ivoire. The hotel is built on a pontoon weighing 200 tons, which is made of 700 thousand (!) Plastic bottles. The hotel, a karaoke bar, and other buildings are made of wood, as are the paths between them and the platforms by the two pools.
The island has a large number of trees, shrubs, and flowers. Drinking water is brought from Abidjan, but electricity is provided by solar panels. What an amazing example of eco-tourism, which provided the disposal of such a huge amount of plastic.
Holidays on the island will cost $100 a day, or $25 if you come just to spend time and sunbathing. There is no shortage of tourists and just vacationers.
