The US capital does not have enough money for public transport
Metro, which operates public transportation for the city of Washington, plans to halt weekends, close 19 metro stations and halve city bus routes from January 1, 2021, according to the Washington Post.
Metro CEO Paul Weidenfeld attributed this to the financial losses his organization suffered during the coronavirus pandemic. Metro estimates that the proposed measures will save about $ 500 million a year.
