According to data from the AAA research organization, the number of Americans who went on a weekend trip in cars on Thanksgiving Day reached approximately 50 million.
Despite health officials' advice to stay at home to curb the spread of coronavirus, Americans have taken advantage of low gasoline prices and good weather, showing the most active travel since the start of the pandemic.
At the same time, the aviation companies stated that in the period from 25 to 29 November, the activity at the airports practically did not change and correspond to their expectations. On November 29, just over 964,000 people passed control at American airports. Compared to the data for the same days last year, this indicator has decreased by 37%. Last weekend, about 200 flights were recorded across the country, which is almost 50% less than a year earlier.
A study by AAA found a 76% reduction in rail and bus travel during the holiday season.
