Iran promises to avenge the death of a leading nuclear physicist

Iranian authorities promise to respond to the murder of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh. This statement was made by the adviser to the supreme leader of Iran, Hossein Dehgan, the Mehr news agency reported.

“We will strike lightning upon the murderers of the martyr,” he said.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani stressed that the assassination of a nuclear physicist will not remain unanswered.

“This crime will not go unanswered. And the answer will follow at the right time,” he said.

Earlier, Axios had suggested that the assassination of Iranian nuclear physicist Mohsen Fahrizadeh is yet another attempt by the Trump administration and the Netanyahu government to use the time left before President-elect Joe Biden took office to increase pressure on Iran.

The Trump administration has made no secret of its desire to make it difficult for Biden to resume talks with Iran and restore American involvement in the 2015 nuclear deal. Sanctions, covert operations, and military strike threats are part of this effort, the portal emphasizes.

Recall that a scientist and participant in the nuclear program of the Islamic Republic Mohsen Fakhrizadeh died as a result of an assassination attempt in Iran.

In addition, earlier the American media reported on the plans of US President Donald Trump to strike at one of the nuclear facilities in Iran.
