Mexican Senate approves abolition of presidential immunity

The Mexican Senate on Thursday approved a constitutional reform, which implies the opportunity to try the country's president. This was reported on Twitter by the Senate.

“The draft constitutional reform in the field of presidential immunity was adopted by 89 votes in favor and 23 votes against,” the message says.

Amendments to Articles 108 and 111 of the Constitution stipulate that in order to judge the President, he must first appear before the Senate.
