Trump announced a conspiracy of pharmaceutical companies against him in the elections

The current US President Donald Trump has accused pharmaceutical companies that by delaying the announcement of successful vaccine trials, they tried to achieve his defeat in the presidential elections. The head of state said this on Friday, November 20, at a press conference at the White House. The broadcast was conducted on Twitter of the presidential administration.

“The big pharmaceutical companies ran millions of dollars worth of negative advertising against me during the election campaign, which I won, by the way. We'll find out more. I got almost 74 million votes. The big pharmaceutical companies were against us, the media were against us, the big tech companies were against us, ” Trump said.

In his opinion, pharmaceutical companies, in particular, Pfizer, do not like his policy of lowering prices for drugs and therefore delayed the publication of positive results from a coronavirus vaccine trial.

Less than a week after the elections, on November 9, BioNTech and Pfizer announced a successful Phase III clinical trial of their BNT162b2 coronavirus vaccine.

In addition, on November 16, Moderna announced the completion of the third phase of trials of the coronavirus vaccine (mRNA-1273) with 94.5% efficacy. Vaccine testing has been taking place since July 27, with approximately 30,000 volunteers taking part.

On November 20, CNN broadcaster reported that pharmaceutical companies BioNTech and Pfizer announced on Wednesday, November 18 that final trials of the vaccine were 95% effective.

In addition, on the same day, White House press secretary Kaylee McEnani said that Americans will have access to 40 million doses of coronavirus vaccine by the end of the year.

In the United States, according to Johns Hopkins University, more than 11.5 million cases of coronavirus infection have been recorded, of which 187 833 new cases over the past day, more than 250 thousand people have died.
