Iraq and Saudi Arabia open checkpoint after 30 years

At the time of the opening of the border, a queue of trucks had already formed. The last time the border was crossed through this point in 1990.

On Wednesday, November 18, Iraq and Saudi Arabia resumed work at the border crossing in the Arar area, which has been closed for 30 years. This was reported by the Baghdad Border Commission.

It is noted that high-ranking representatives of the Iraqi Interior Ministry and the leadership of the border commission arrived in Arar to officially open the border crossing.

By this time, a queue of trucks had already formed at the border.

Arar will be open to both goods and people for the first time since 1990 when Riyadh and Baghdad severed diplomatic relations after Iraq's invasion of Kuwait.

It was also reported that in 2015, Saudi Arabia was building a wall on the border with Iraq.

Recall that last year the king of Saudi Arabia gave Iraq a billion dollars.
