Air taxi tested in South Korea

Seoul authorities and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport is one of the city parks in the capital of South Korea tested six EH216 drones designed to carry two people.

Reported by the South Korean publication hani.co.kr.

The city plans to introduce an unmanned taxi service in 2025, according to the ministry. Drones manufactured by the Chinese company EHang covered a distance of 3.6 kilometers in seven minutes, keeping at an altitude of 50 meters. Thus, the travel speed was quite decent 30 km / h, including takeoff and landing.

Although each drone is designed to carry two people, test flights were conducted with three bags of rice, each weighing about 20 kilograms.

Judging by the pictures, the passenger compartment is a small streamlined capsule on skis, propelled by 16 twin propellers on eight supports located around the perimeter of the hull.

Recall that in October 2019, the German start-up of air taxi Lilium successfully completed the first stage of flight tests. The prototype of a five-seat flying vehicle with vertical take-off and landing is capable of taking off thanks to 36 rotors that accelerate the vehicle to a speed of 100 km / h.
