US President Donald Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani and other influential Republicans shared the TikTok video as evidence of ballot fraud in the US presidential election, but the video turned out to be a joke.
Writes about this Insider.
The publication notes that the viral video was first posted on TikTok by @bigchoppadoe last week. In it, a man in a neon yellow vest rips up what he says is a ballot for Donald Trump. Above the video, it says “Send a virus” with laughing emoticons.
The original video has already been blocked on TikTok, but its recordings continue to be shared on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Its author has already explained that he shot the video just as a joke.
At the same time, the version of the video, which was retweeted by Rudy Giuliani, just a few hours after publication, gained over 100 thousand views and is still not flagged as untrue.
Many influential Trump supporters circulate this video believing in its veracity, with captions: “The integrity of this country has been compromised! The truth will set us free”; “Disgusting”, etc.
The publication reports that other videos with fakes are being disseminated on the Internet as evidence of election violations.
