Macron called for a review of the Schengen rules

The French President will present the relevant proposals to the European Council in December.

French President Emmanuel Macron called for the revision of Schengen rules in the direction of strengthening the protection of external borders of the European Union. For this purpose, it is necessary to create a real security policy, reports Le Figaro on Thursday, November 5.

France's president believes it is necessary for Europe to strengthen its response and said his country is already doing so by “doubling its existing forces.

Macron said he would submit proposals to the European Council as early as December. He also announced his intention to significantly tighten control at the country's borders.

“Against the backdrop of changes in the threat situation, we have decided to significantly strengthen our border control in the Schengen area,” he said.

According to Macron, the number of police, gendarmes, and military forces involved in border patrols will be increased from 2,400 to 4,800, at the border control.

The French president proposes “rethinking the organization” of the Schengen and “strengthening our common border security with real security police at the external borders. He believes that this will make the Schengen area “more consistent.

Last week in Nice, a man beheaded people in a cathedral with a knife. Two people died inside the temple. Later, the number of victims rose to three.

The media later learned that the terrorist is a 21-year-old Tunisian named Brahim Aouissaui, who arrived illegally in Europe.
