Tachi had previously testified in The Hague at the office of a special tribunal that investigates war crimes.
The president of self-proclaimed Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, has resigned after confirming formal war crimes charges against him. This was reported on Thursday, November 5, by the Kosova Press.
Thaci at a press conference said that he was keeping his promise and resigning.
Recall that on July 13 Thaci testified in The Hague at the office of a special tribunal that is investigating war crimes committed in Kosovo in 1998-1999 during the war for independence from Serbia.
Thaçi led the Kosovo Liberation Army during the war. The formal charges against him and another influential Kosovo politician, former field commander Kadri Veseli, were filed on June 24.
The Kosovo President denies the accusations made by the international tribunal based on the investigation and the accumulated evidence. Thaci said he could have made political mistakes, but not war crimes.
