For the first time in US history, a transgender will take a seat in the Senate

In the United States, Democratic candidate Sarah McBride of Delaware will take a seat in the Senate. McBride is the first transgender to be elected to this position in the history of the country, writes the New York Times.

30-year-old McBride bypassed Republican Steve Washington in the election race.

In an interview with the media, the politician said that she is “incredibly grateful” to the residents of her district and is ready to focus on work and service to them.

McBride had an internship at the White House during the Barack Obama administration, then she worked as a press secretary for the Human Rights Campaign.

Recall that a transgender person for the first time in the EU became Deputy Prime Minister of Belgium. Petra De Sutter received the portfolio of Minister of State Enterprise and Public Administration.

Prior to that, it became known that a “trans-Satanist” could become the sheriff in the United States. She won the right to compete for the post of sheriff of an American city. The candidate advocates for the legalization of drugs and prostitution.
