Nord Stream 2: New US Sanctions Affect 120 Companies

The United States intends to extend sanctions to all companies cooperating with construction participants.

The new US decision to extend sanctions against firms collaborating with the Nord Stream 2 project will affect more than 120 companies. This was announced on Wednesday, October 21, in the press service of the company — the operator of the Nord Stream 2 AG project.

“If they are introduced, the sanctions will directly affect 120 companies from more than 12 European countries,” the company said.

At the same time, the potential consequences of new sanctions for companies are not commented on there.

On the eve of the US State Department announced the expansion of sanctions against Nord Stream-2. Initially, the sanctions were related to the pipeline-laying vessels. The restrictions now apply to companies that help and finance pipe-laying vessels to upgrade or install equipment.
