Students were infected with COVID-19 to make money on plasma with antibodies

In the U.S., university officials are checking reports that students are intentionally infected with coronavirus to earn money from plasma with antibodies. You can get $100 to $200 for each portion of the plasma.

Students at Brigham Young U.S. Private Religious University in Idaho were specifically infected with coronavirus to receive money for blood plasma with antibodies when they recovered, the institution's website said.

The statement said the university's management “is deeply concerned about reports that individuals have deliberately tried to infect themselves and others with COVID-19.

The administration also threatens such students with suspension or expulsion.

Two plasma reception centers are known to be located near the university. One offers $100 for blood donations to volunteers, and the other offers $200. It is possible to donate blood several times in a row.

The city of Rexburg, where the institution is located, has one of the highest rates of coronavirus infection in the United States — 122.6 cases per 100,000 residents.
