The decision was made in order to take care of the safety of patients participating in the study, said Eli Lilly.
American pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly has suspended clinical trials of the drug against coronavirus. This was reported by the agency Reuters on Tuesday, October 13.
It is noted that the company is developing a serum based on antibodies — an analog of Regeneron, which was given to U.S. President Donald Trump during treatment.
“The Independent Data Monitoring Board recommended a pause in the recruitment of volunteers as a precautionary measure,” company representative Molly McCully said.
She noted that in this way the company takes care of the study participants.
“Lilly supports the decision of the independent counsel to take care of the safety of the patients participating in the study,” McCully said.
Earlier, the American company Johnson&Johnson announced the suspension of COVID-19 vaccine trials. The reason for this decision was “an unexplained disease in a trial participant”.
