Apple ditches iPhone 12 120Hz screens
Tomorrow, October 13, Apple will present the flagship smartphone iPhone 12. Meanwhile, authoritative analyst and blogger Jon Prosser told why the “apple” company decided to abandon 120-Hz displays in these devices.
According to Mr. Prosser, when developing the iPhone 12 smartphones, Apple faced a choice: implement support for 5G or use screens with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The fact is that both of these technologies are very energy-intensive, and therefore their coexistence would lead to a too rapid drain on the battery.
John Prosser explains that it is much easier from a marketing point of view to promote 5G communications than it is to educate consumers about the benefits of 120Hz displays. Therefore, Apple has chosen the first of these technologies at the current stage.
At the same time, it is noted that technically Apple is completely ready to use screens with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Therefore, John Prosser emphasizes, such panels will no doubt appear in the next generation iPhone.
