Israel has successfully tested a new rocket and propulsion system as part of an improved missile defense system, the Jewish State Department of Defense said Friday.
“The military department conducted a test of a rocket propulsion system from a base in central Israel. The test was planned in advance and passed normally,” the military department quoted the media as saying.
Last summer, the Israeli military, together with colleagues from the United States, successfully tested the Hets-3 missile defense system in Alaska, which intercepted targets outside the atmosphere of the earth, media say.
The Jewish missile defense is a three-tier structure. The Israeli army is armed with earlier Patriot and Hets complexes, David Sling batteries, capable of intercepting missiles with a range of 70 to 300 km, and the Iron Dome missile defense system designed to intercept short-range rockets, reports 9 Channel of Israeli television.
