YouTube may become an online store
Reporters learned that YouTube is testing features that turn a video service into an online store. The site will be able to directly buy products shown in the videos.
Bloomberg writes about this, citing sources. YouTube began to offer video creators special software that provides Google analytics and trading tools. This will make it possible to make a kind of product catalog out of YouTube videos. Users will be able to browse and select products without going to any online stores.
The journalists also learned that YouTube is collaborating with the Canadian company Shopify, which develops software for online stores.
YouTube has already confirmed that they are working on the project. If all goes according to plan, the company hopes to compete with the largest platforms Amazon and Alibaba.
