For 50 years, the university has discriminated against white-skinned and Asian applicants for admission.
The US Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit against Yale University for racial and ethnic discrimination. Bloomberg reported about this on Thursday, October 8, citing a message from the department.
It clarifies that the complaint was filed with the US District Court for the District of Connecticut.
“The institution discriminated against applicants on the basis of race and national origin. In particular, people of Asian descent and whites were discriminated against,” the Justice Department said.
The lawsuit notes that the university supports a certain percentage of African Americans and people of Asian descent in the number of applicants “contrary to the Civil Rights Act, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of race.”
The investigation by the US Department of Justice showed that the university uses the race of applicants as a factor in admission, seeking to realize their own ideas about “race balance”.
Recall that the professor was suspended from work due to refusal to cancel exams for blacks. The teacher did not want to excuse black students from exams, for which they cannot prepare because they go to protests.
It was also reported that a professor at Cambridge was encouraged for a racist phrase. The university administration said that the newly-minted professor is entitled to his point of view.
