Hurricane Delta intensifies to Category 3
Hurricane Delta, which hit the Mexican states of Yucatan and Quintana Roo on Wednesday, increased on Thursday to the third (of five) category on the Saffir-Simpson scale.
This was announced by the US National Center for Hurricane Watching.
According to meteorological estimates, the current wind speed within the atmospheric phenomenon reaches 51 m / s. The cyclone is currently located about 555 km south of Louisiana and is moving northwestward at a speed of 19 km / h. The hurricane is forecast to weaken on Friday as the Delta approaches the northern coastal zone of the Gulf of Mexico.
