Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden revealed his income by publishing a tax return and urged his opponent, incumbent White House chief Donald Trump, to do the same. This was announced by Biden's headquarters.
According to the document, last year Biden and his wife Jill received an income of $985,233. With this amount, they paid federal taxes in the amount of $299,346.
Following Biden, Senator Kamala Harris presented her declaration. Biden's deputy chief of staff, Keith Bedingfield, called it “a historic level of transparency.”
On the eve of the newspaper The New York Times, referring to tax returns, wrote that Trump has not paid federal income tax over the past ten years. According to the publication, when Trump became president in 2016, he paid only $750 in income tax and the same amount in 2017. Later, Trump, during a press conference, denied the claims of The New York Times, calling them fabrications, and claimed that he was paying taxes. Also, on his Twitter, he said that the newspaper did not take into account his “incredible assets” and stressed that he has a very low level of debt. In addition, Trump noted that he is the only president in history to refuse a salary.
