UK and France record increases in COVID-19

Between late June and early August, the incidence of COVID-19 in the UK dropped to below one thousand cases per day, but then began to rise again.

In the UK and France, over the past 24 hours, records have been recorded for the daily increase in new cases of coronavirus infection. This was announced on Thursday, September 24, by the Daily Mail, citing a statement from the director of the British Department of Public Health Yvonne Doyle.

So, according to her, on Thursday more than 6.6 thousand new cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed in the UK, which became a record figure since the beginning of the epidemic in the country.

In total, more than 416 thousand cases were recorded in the UK. According to Doyle, over the past week, the daily increase in new cases has almost doubled: last Thursday, the coronavirus was detected in the country in 3,395 residents.

In addition, 40 people died of COVID-19 in 24 hours. Doyle noted that the incidence is increasing in all age groups, and the number of hospitalizations has also increased.

“We must all follow the new measures that have been introduced to help contain the spread of the virus,” Doyle said.

She recommended that the British install a new smartphone application that tracks contacts of infected people.

Also, a record for the daily increase in infected people was recorded in France. According to Figaro, 16,096 new infections were detected in the country in 24 hours. Since the beginning of the pandemic, almost 500 thousand people have been infected with the coronavirus in the country.
