If Russia and the United States are going to conclude a new missile agreement instead of the Treaty on the Elimination of Intermediate-Range and Shorter-Range Missiles, terminated this year, then Europe should also participate in the negotiations.
After talks with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg in Paris on November 28, French President Emmanuel Macron said this.
“Europeans should be involved in negotiations on a future treaty on intermediate and shorter-range missiles,” he said.
At the same time, Macron called the North Atlantic Alliance the only platform for a joint resolution of strategic issues by Europe and the USA, including the reaction to the strengthening of Russia and China.
“NATO is the only platform where Europe and North America can address strategic issues such as the fight against terrorism or how to deal with a more aggressive Russia and growing China,” the French leader added.
