The Czech Republic backs Greece over tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean
The Czech Republic expressed solidarity with Greece over the tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean, Czech Foreign Minister Tomas Petricek told reporters on September 18.
According to him, at the talks held during the visit to the Czech Republic of Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias, issues of bilateral cooperation, as well as the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean and the topic of illegal migration were discussed. These topics were the main focus, Petricek noted.
“We are very concerned about the continuing tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean. We expressed our full solidarity to the Minister. Everything must be done to resolve the problem, ” he said.
The Czech minister said that his country has allocated 2.6 million kroons (about 100 thousand euros) to help migrants on the island of Lesvos (Greece). In addition, the situation in Belarus was discussed at the meeting of the foreign ministers, Petrzhichek added.
