Trump appoints son-in-law to supervise border wall construction

Kouchner demands that a minimum of 30 miles (ca. 48 km) of barriers is erected before spring per month and that a 450-mile section is completed by the end of 2020, the Washington Post reports.

US President Donald Trump has appointed his son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner to lead the construction of the wall on the border between the United States and Mexico. This was reported with reference to its own sources by the Washington Post on Tuesday, November 26.

The transfer of project management to Kushner Trump was forced by the “lack of progress” in construction, the publication said. Once every two weeks, Kouchner holds meetings at the White House, at which officials submit reports on construction progress and cost-sharing. Kouchner, in turn, gives them the president’s instructions.

According to the publication, Kushner demanded that 30 to 35 miles (ca. 56 km) of barriers be erected before the month of spring so that by the end of 2020 a 450-mile (about 724 kilometers) section would be completed.

Earlier, Trump said that the entire wall with a length of 500-550 miles (ca. -885 km) will be built for the next election in 2020.

Recall that the construction of the wall on the border with Mexico was one of Trump's main election promises.

Previously, the Pentagon allocated $3.6 billion to build a wall on the border with Mexico.
