50 people killed in mine collapse in Congo
About fifty people were buried alive after a mine collapsed in DR Congo. It was a handicraft business that was located near a gold mine. Due to heavy rains, the structure of the mine could not stand it and collapse. Videos have been posted on social networks, on which the voices of living people can still be heard from under the rubble for some time.
Accidents at unplanned mines in Congo are frequent. The vaults of these structures are poorly secured, and the miners lack the necessary equipment. Last year, 16 people died in such mine in October, and 43 illegal workers in another in June.
