Peru begins impeachment proceedings against the president
The Peruvian parliament has begun considering a resolution to impeach the country's president, Martin Viscara. The deputies believe that the head of the state is morally incapable of holding this post. 52 deputies voted to begin the procedure for removing Viskara from the office.
The anger of the people's deputies caused a corruption scandal in which the president was implicated. In the summer, the congressmen began to find out why many multimillion-dollar contracts go to the relatives of the head of state.
In August, audio recordings were released in which Viskara instructs her aides — what they should say in Congress about this.
The president himself calls this process an attempt to destabilize the situation in the country.
