The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in South Africa per day increased by 1990, since the beginning of the epidemic, 642,431 cases of the disease have been detected in the country, South African Health Minister Zveli Mhize said on Twitter on September 9.
According to the minister's report, 82 patients with COVID-19 have died in South Africa per day, 15168 people have become victims of the disease in the country since the beginning of the pandemic.
South Africa has already been ill with COVID-19 and 569,935 people have been discharged from hospitals. The total number of coronavirus tests conducted in the country is 3,842,898, of which 21,736 were carried out in the last 24 hours.
South Africa still ranks first in Africa for the number of detected cases of COVID-19. However, in the world in terms of this indicator, since the beginning of August, the country has dropped from fifth to eighth place.
It is worth noting that the end of the “peak” of the COVID-19 epidemic in South Africa, that is, a decrease in the daily number of detected cases of the disease, coincided with a serious decrease in the volume of testing for coronavirus.
