The US Department of Defense in exceptional cases allows the possibility of extending cooperation with contractors that use Chinese technology, Ellen Lord, Deputy Secretary of Defense for Procurement and Logistics, told reporters on September 9.
“We strongly support the exclusion of Chinese technologies from our range of telecommunications systems, which have been proven to be a data breach problem,” the deputy defense minister said.
At the same time, she added that from the National Intelligence received temporary permission to continue working with contractors if it does not concern critical weapons. The issue of extending these permits for the period after September is currently being considered. According to her, each such case will be considered separately.
At the same time, the Pentagon continues to insist on the refusal of American defense companies from using Chinese technologies. “We are very pleased with the way the industry is removing such systems from supply chains. Exceptions are permissible only in isolated cases, ” she added.
We will remind, earlier the publication Defense News reported on the temporary permission from the US administration to continue the work of the Ministry of Defense with contractors who use Huawei technologies, until September 30.
We also recall that on August 27, US government agencies were asked to enter into agreements with companies that use technologies from Huawei, ZTE, Hikvision, Dahua Technology, and Hytera Communications Corporation, as well as their subsidiaries.
