NASA said what happens if an asteroid collides with the surface of our planet.
On Tuesday, September 8, 2020, PT4 will fly past the Earth and the Moon. According to NASA, the asteroid is a space rock approximately 37 meters long.
It moves at a speed of 12.6 kilometers per second, or 45,360 kilometers per hour. The space rock will travel at a distance of 4.9 times the distance from the Earth to the Moon, or 1,883,153 km. At the same time, NASA described it as a near-Earth object, that is, it is a good opportunity to study the solar system.
NASA notes that even if this asteroid collided with the Earth, which definitely will not happen, it would not pose a danger to life on our planet. Its impact would be similar to the explosion of a meteorite over Russia's Chelyabinsk in 2013.
