The Belarusian oppositionist asked to send observers to record what is happening in the country.
Alexander Lukashenko's opponent in the elections Svetlana Tikhanovskaya spoke at the informal online meeting of the UN Security Council on the situation in Belarus, which was broadcast on YouTube on Friday, September 4.
In particular, Tikhanovskaya called on the UN to send a monitoring mission to Belarus.
“We urge the UN to immediately send a monitoring mission to Belarus to fix the situation on the ground,” she said.
It should be reminded that earlier the coordinating council appealed to the Belarusian authorities. The authors of the statement call on Lukashenka to release political prisoners and move on to peace negotiations.
It was also reported that Belarus has deployed half of its army along the border. Lukashenko said that the army actually surrounded Grodno and is determined to defend its sovereignty.
