However, after the discovery of the chemicals, the military took all necessary steps to quickly dispose of the found amount of ammonium nitrate in the port of Beirut.
Recall that on August 4, a powerful explosion occurred in the port of Beirut, which destroyed a large part of the city. According to the official version, 2750 tons of nitrate were detonated in the harbor.
In the case of the explosion, 19 officials were arrested, including port director-general Hassan Kreitem and head of customs service Badri Daher. Those responsible for the criminal negligence that caused the tragedy could face the death penalty.
