The overthrown president of Mali was placed in the hospital
The deposed Malian president Ibrahim Boubacar Keita was sent to a private clinic on Tuesday, Associated Press reported, citing sources.
No information on the health status of 75-year-old Keita has been reported. Nor is there any information about the intention to take the head of state abroad for treatment.
Earlier, it was reported that the rebels had released the deposed president. Keita was brought to his residence in Sebenikoro, a suburb of the capital Bamako, protected by the rebels.
The mutiny in Mali began on August 18 at the military base near the capital Bamako. The mutineers announced about the arrest of President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita and Prime Minister Bouba Cisse. The Malian leader then resigned and the parliament and government were dissolved.
