Banksy ship overloaded with illegal immigrants sends a distress signal off the coast of Italy
In the Mediterranean, rescuers are heading for the German-flagged Louise Michel, which has sent a distress signal. According to the crew, the vessel engaged in the rescue of illegal migrants is overloaded вЂ” there are more than 200 people on it, not counting the crew.
вЂњOne person onboard has already died,вЂќ one of the crew members said on a social network.
The vessel is currently located 90 km southeast of Lampedusa.
The Louise Michel was bought by street artist Banksy from French customs to help migrants.
