In Washington, D.C., thousands of protesters gathered at the Abraham Lincoln Memorial for a demonstration marking the 57th anniversary of the march to Washington by dark-skinned human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner Martin Luther King. This was reported by The Washington Post on Friday, August 28.
It was noted that the protest was held under the slogan “Get your knee off my neck!
Thus, the rally began with performances of activists from the steps of the building, from which King himself gave a speech. Then the demonstrators headed to his nearby memorial.
