US President Donald Trump said that because of the Democrats, the country has to buy oil from Russia. He accused his political opponents of banning the construction of the pipeline network in the country.
As an example, Trump cited the New England region, where the country's highest electricity prices. According to the American president, the problem could be solved by an oil pipeline, but it would have to go through the state of New York. And the governor of the state, Democrat Andrew Cuomo, does not agree to this. As a result, the fuel has to be imported by ships from Russia.
In 2019, the United States bought an average of 515 thousand barrels of oil per day in our country. Total imports of Russian liquid fuel to the United States last year were estimated at $13.8 billion.
