ByteDance Claims Nearly $30 Billion For American TikTok Segment
Chinese firm ByteDance is demanding about $30 billion for the American segment of the social network TikTok. This was reported on Thursday by The Wall Street Journal, citing its own sources.
According to them, potential buyers of part of the social network still consider the above price too high. ByteDance plans to select the main bidder, negotiate with him, and close the deal. The Chinese company expects to do all this as early as next week.
The Chinese company received offers to acquire TikTok from US Oracle and Microsoft with Walmart, Bloomberg reported on Thursday. Other contenders were Twitter, Netflix, the Japanese group Softbank and Alphabet holding, which includes Google. All of them, for various reasons, abandoned their intention to acquire the American segment of the social network, writes The Wall Street Journal.
