A record amount has already been spent on the current election campaign of the current US President Donald Trump — more than a billion dollars. This was reported on Saturday, August 22, by The Washington Post.
It is noted that the funds have been used over the past four years by the presidential campaign headquarters, the Republican Party, and two related committees.
So, for comparison, by August 2012, a few months before re-election, Barack Obama's headquarters and the Democratic National Committee spent about $643 million on the campaign.
According to the newspaper, in the current presidential race in July, Trump was able to collect $165 million in donations, while his main rival Joe Biden — $140 million.
Overall, by August, the head of the White House had $300 million in donations, and Biden had $294 million.
