The gas reserves discovered by Turkey in the Black Sea are estimated at $65 billion. This was announced by the country's Energy Minister Fatih Donmez, TRT TV channel reported.
According to the minister, the state oil company Turkiye Petrolleri AO (TPAO) will explore the field. Turkey will also conduct drilling independently.
Now, Donmez explained, the republic spends $ 40 billion annually on oil and gas imports. Thanks to the deposit, these expenses can be reduced.
Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the discovery of a natural gas field. He called it the largest in the history of the country. Gas volumes are estimated at 320 billion cubic meters. By 2023, Erdogan said, Turkey plans to supply gas to its citizens.

The deposit was discovered on August 19. The Turkish drilling ship Fatih found gas reserves in the Tuna-1 zone вЂ” at the intersection of the Bulgarian, Romanian, and Turkish maritime borders.
