US imposes sanctions on Iran's construction sector
The sanctions are against Iran’s construction sector and will affect four types of materials that the country used to produce rockets and nuclear weapons.
The United States imposed sanctions against the construction sector of Iran. This was reported by the press service of the US State Department on Friday, November 1.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo believes that the new sanctions will help maintain oversight of Iran’s civilian nuclear program.
Four types of materials that Tehran uses in its program for the production of missiles and nuclear weapons fell under restrictions.
The Department of State also believes that the Iranian construction sector is directly or indirectly controlled by the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), which the United States has recognized as an international terrorist organization.
The US intends to continue to increase economic pressure on Iran until it stops expanding its nuclear program.
It was previously reported that Washington will block Tehran's last source of funds. US President Donald Trump announced the imposition of sanctions against the National Bank of Iran and called these measures the “most significant” sanctions.
Iran said the new US sanctions demonstrate "American despair."
