The British began to drink “over the norm” — research

Under quarantine, the British began to drink more. This is evidenced by data from the charitable organization "Drinkaware", collected during the study, reports drinkaware.co.uk.

Every fifth Briton (22%) reported an increase in alcohol consumption under quarantine.

Those surveyed indicated that alcohol helps them cope with stress. 38% of respondents compared quarantine with vacation, indicating that the measured pace of life in self-isolation allows them to drink “above the norm.”

Drinkaware executive director Elaine Hindahl says there is nothing wrong with alcohol. If you use it wisely.

“The recommended amount of alcohol is 14 units per week. One unit of alcohol is 10 grams of pure alcohol. If you drink more, you harm your health and well-being,” the expert warns.

We add that the study involved 2 thousand residents of the country, aged 18 to 24 years.
