The businessman overtook the only non-American rich man from the TOP-5
American inventor and businessman Elon Musk, who recently made it into the top 5 richest people on the planet for the first time, now ranks fourth on this list. This is evidenced by data from Bloomberg.
“Elon Musk's financial recovery shows no signs of slowing down,” the agency's analysts say.
According to them, Musk overtook Bernard Arnault, CEO of the French Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy (LVMH) group of companies. At the moment, the entrepreneur's fortune is estimated at $84.8 billion. Arnault is now in fifth place with a fortune of $84.6 billion.
This came after Tesla shares rose 11% on August 17, boosting Musk's equity by $7.8 billion.
Musk is now second only to three other American billionaires on the list of the rich. The first place is taken by the head of Amazon Jeff Bezos with a fortune of $188 billion, the second is one of the founders of Microsoft Bill Gates ($121 billion), the third is the head of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg ($99 billion).
Musk's fortune has grown by $57.2 billion since the beginning of 2020, the second-largest increase after Bezos's. The richest person in the world amassed $73 billion in 2020.
