In the US, the first project of a road on which Autonomous cars will be trained and tested was presented. Its length will be 60 km, and the first section will be built by 2024.
The state of Michigan, along with Cavnue and Alphabet, will build a 64-km road that will connect downtown Detroit with the city of Ann arbor. This route will provide access to the University of Michigan, the Detroit city airport, and the Michigan Central train station. Companies will test Autonomous cars on this road.
In the first stage of the project, Cavnue will test potential technologies and roadway design. The firm will work with other companies-Ford, GM, BMW, Toyota, and Another way subsidiary. Together, they will develop standards for marking and covering roads for Autonomous cars across the country. In the future, this road will be used by both cargo and personal vehicles.
