Mayor of Caracas, 70-year-old Dario Vivas, who contracted the coronavirus in the second half of July, died. This was announced by the Attorney General of the Bolivarian Republic Tarek William Saab.
вЂњIt is with deep regret that we received the sad news of the death of our good friend and loyal revolutionary Dario Vivas, with whom we have fought on the streets of Caracas since the 1980s in a brave struggle to protect the people and the homeland,вЂќ the prosecutor general wrote on Twitter.
The Venezuelan government reported the first two cases of infection in the country on March 13, the same day a state of emergency was declared. On March 17, President Nicolas Maduro announced a decision to introduce quarantine throughout the country. To date, 29,088 cases of coronavirus infection have been registered in the republic, 247 people have died.
